CLEAN ENERGY
Maplewood is committed to a clean energy future, with a goal of transitioning the community toward 100% clean energy by 2050. Achieving this goal will require collective action—from municipal leadership to everyday choices made by residents and businesses.
Did you know? Approximately two-thirds of Maplewood’s community-wide energy use comes from the residential sector, with most of the remainder from commercial buildings. The industrial sector plays a relatively small role. The largest sources of local energy consumption are heating our buildings and fueling transportation, while electricity use accounts for a smaller share.
By improving energy efficiency, electrifying buildings and vehicles, and expanding access to renewable energy, Maplewood can reduce emissions, lower energy costs, and create a healthier, more sustainable community for all.
